The Bureau of Critical Support is home to three divisions and one program that support operations throughout all of Virginia. The Aviation Division’s mission is to conduct medical evacuations, search and rescue assistance, and law enforcement aviation support. The Special Operations Division strives to preserve life and property through the use of tactical response and operational medical support, along with land and underwater search and recovery measures. The primary responsibility of the Executive Protection Division is to provide security and transportation for the Governor and immediate family members. The Work Zone Speed Safety Camera Program, instituted in coordination with VDOT to improve highway safety by reducing both speed and crashes in highway work zones, is also part of this bureau.
