Defined Benefit Retirement (Pension)
- Retirement funded by a 5% pre-tax salary reduction plan
- Vested after 5 years of service
- Sworn employees may retire with full benefits at age 50 with 25 years of service or age 60 with 5 years of service. This includes a supplement to the retirement benefits with 20 years of hazardous duty service, which is payable until Social Security age
- Civilian employees may retire with full benefits with certain combinations of age and years of service
- Provisions for line-of-duty death in service
- Defined contribution (investments) plan for newer civilian employees

Life Insurance
- No cost to employee
- 2 times salary for natural death; 4 times salary for accidental death
- May purchase additional optional life insurance coverage for yourself and family members at low group rates through payroll deduction

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
- Set aside pre-tax funds via payroll deduction to reimburse yourself for medical and/or dependent care expenses

Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
- Income replacement for qualified periods of incapacity over 7 calendar days
- Income replacement based on years of service for 100%, 80%, or 60% of salary
- Increased benefits for catastrophic disability
- Long-term disability begins after 6 months of short-term disability (potentially 12 months in some cases) and may continue to normal retirement age

Deferred Compensation plan with Cash Match
- Voluntary program that permits you to build retirement savings on a pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) basis
- Contributions are deducted from salary each pay period
- Cash Match from agency (currently up to $20/pay period, if deferring at least $40/pay period)
- Can start, stop, or change contributions at any time
- You choose the method of payment and commencement date of your payments
